JODI-ANN PEARTON WINS PRESTIGIOUS ‘BY INVITATION ONLY’ CHEF OF THE YEAR 2009!

The prestigious annual By Invitation Only Chef of the Year 2009 challenge was won yesterday by the only female competitor and the youngest by 15 years, Jodi-Ann Pearton of the Food Design Agency in Johannesburg. The crowed roared as Jodi-Ann Pearton (nee Palmer, aged 24) was announced the winner at an awards ceremony at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Jodi was the recipient of the Unilever Foodsolutions Senior Chef of the Year last year, and in 2007 also walked away with top honours in the Junior Chef of the Year – making her the only chef to ever have successfully entered and won all three major Unilever Foodsolutions titles in as many years. Competing for the ultimate winner-takes-all prize of R40 000 in cash – the highest stakes of any professional culinary competition in South Africa – the six competing chefs, handpicked for their contribution to the food industry, enduring reputations, unwavering commitment to quality and standards of excellence, and their outstanding culinary talent and skill were given a mystery basket of ingredients, with half an hour to come up with their three-course menu, and three hours to present it to the judges.

SPOTLIGHT ON NOMU

Let me let you in on a little secret of mine, nomu has come up with the most wonderful mix of products... their quality and presentation is outstanding and they are top class as far as the content of the packaging goes. What impressed me so much about this particular product was the fact that the content of each tin is packaged individually into its own sealed parcel. The use of the product is endless although using it as a dip seems to be particularly popular.
